Burt Skiba

Burt brings a rare blend of deep technical expertise and legal acumen to Ten7 Consulting. With over a decade as a mechanical engineer, designing turbine engines, rockets, and missile systems, Burt pivoted to law, earning an MBA in Finance and a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University.

At Accelerate IP LLC, Burt serves clients across Arizona, Alabama, and Washington D.C., focusing on intellectual property protection and strategic business formation. He helps early-stage ventures set up robust IP plans, guiding them from invention concept through design refinement to patent and trademark filings.

A hands-on innovator, Burt leverages his engineering background with four 3D printers and SolidWorks CAD tools to assist clients in prototyping and refining inventions. He holds six issued patents with four pending applications himself—bringing genuine inventor’s insight to every engagement.

Burt’s practice spans patent drafting, trademark clearance and registration, copyright, and trade secret management. He has successfully guided brands through legal maneuvers, such as Meghan Markle’s pivot to the “As Ever” trademark and landmark copyright cases for major studios.

Licensed in Arizona, Alabama, and D.C., Burt is equally at home in federal IP matters or advising clients on entity setup, licensing, and compliance. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit, having founded three startups, Burt understands what it takes to build, protect, and scale ventures.

When he’s not counseling clients, Burt enjoys family time with his wife and five kids, coaching baseball, designing new products, and taking the family dog Oakley for golf outings.
